Maintenance Mechanic, Rotating Shift

About The Position

As a Maintenance Mechanic at PPG, you will repair, install, and perform preventative maintenance on piping, pumps, mixing equipment, various lab equipment, and other plant equipment. Work includes but not limited to pipe fitting, pump rebuilding, metal fabrication, rigging, and welding. Troubleshoot and repair electrical and instrumentation systems. Understand and utilize technical manuals, blueprints, P&IDs, and sketches. Responsible for the housekeeping and 6S in the immediate work area, shop area, and utility areas. Collaborate with internal customers such as lab techs, office staff, engineers, and operations employees on various tasks as needed. Order parts and maintain inventory when required. Rotating Shift Schedule: Three shifts M-F 7am - 3pm, 3pm – 11pm, 11 pm – 7 am. Rotating 1 afternoon week, 1 night week, and a number of daylight weeks depending on staffing. Some weekend work required as plant production demand warrants. Off hours call-ins as needed for emergencies Mandatory overtime is required at times to complete maintenance tasks for emergency and scheduled reasons. Key Responsibilities Operate a forklift Operate various powered shop tools, such as lathe, drill press, band saw, welding machine, cordless drills, and pipe threader. Wear appropriate PPE, including FRC and respirators Basic rigging using chain falls, hoists, straps, etc. Prioritize work given based on due dates. Assemble and disassemble piping systems Trouble shoot various plant systems, steam, process, water, vacuum, etc. Install, remove, and rebuild pumps and valves using manuals. Professional basics of responding to emails, computer literacy, production schedule, etc. Qualifications 2+ years maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment HS Degree or GED, Skilled Trade School Preferred. Know how to use hand tools such as wrenches, sockets, taps, hammers, and screw drivers. Knowledge of PPG SOPs required for both R&D and DC Knowledge of facility specific equipment such as RTO, Air Compressors, SCB, Well Water systems, HVAC systems, steam systems, fire protection system, and electrical systems at both R&D and DC. Requirements

  • 2+ years maintenance experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • HS Degree or GED
  • Know how to use hand tools such as wrenches, sockets, taps, hammers, and screw drivers.

  • Knowledge of PPG SOPs required for both R&D and DC
  • Knowledge of facility specific equipment such as RTO, Air Compressors, SCB, Well Water systems, HVAC systems, steam systems, fire protection system, and electrical systems at both R&D and DC. How they work, location, spare parts, etc.
