As a Maintenance Mechanic at PPG, you will repair, install, and perform preventative maintenance on piping, pumps, mixing equipment, various lab equipment, and other plant equipment. Work includes but not limited to pipe fitting, pump rebuilding, metal fabrication, rigging, and welding. Troubleshoot and repair electrical and instrumentation systems. Understand and utilize technical manuals, blueprints, P&IDs, and sketches. Responsible for the housekeeping and 6S in the immediate work area, shop area, and utility areas. Collaborate with internal customers such as lab techs, office staff, engineers, and operations employees on various tasks as needed. Order parts and maintain inventory when required. Rotating Shift Schedule: Three shifts M-F 7am - 3pm, 3pm – 11pm, 11 pm – 7 am. Rotating 1 afternoon week, 1 night week, and a number of daylight weeks depending on staffing. Some weekend work required as plant production demand warrants. Off hours call-ins as needed for emergencies Mandatory overtime is required at times to complete maintenance tasks for emergency and scheduled reasons.
