This role involves performing basic preventive maintenance on facilities and support equipment, maintaining the building's exterior, and executing facility repair work orders. The Maintenance Mechanic will coordinate with Maintenance Utility workers to ensure that specific job assignments are completed safely and timely, and that work performed is at the present skill level.

Requirements

High School or equivalent.
Basic electrical skills.
Basic mechanical skills.
Basic carpentry skills.
Five year on the job experience as an electrician, mechanic or plant maintenance.
Must be available to work all shifts.

Nice To Haves

Environmental experience a plus.
Previous experience in the consumer packaging and printing industry a plus.
Knowledge of equipment manufactured by KBA, Bobst, Jagenburg and other Industry equipment.

Responsibilities

Performs basic preventive maintenance on facilities and facilities support equipment.
Maintains exterior of building during summer and winter.
Performs facility repair work orders and facility upkeep as directed.
Coordinate with Maintenance Utility workers as required to assure that specific job assignments are completed in a safe and timely fashion.
To ensure that work performed is at present skill level.
Works in a safe manner and assures co-workers work in a safe manner.
Reports safety hazards immediately to appropriate individual.
Continues to expand safety awareness by participating in safety training programs.
Performs basic facility preventive maintenance, which includes production area Pest control abatement, filter changing on air conditioning units, cleaning air compressors, checking and correcting lubrication fluid levels on air compressors, chill water pumps, etc.
Performs facility repair type work orders.
Including replacing lamps in lighting fixtures, repairs broken doorknobs, water leaks and painting.
Responsible for seeing that the daily Janitorial duties are carried out throughout the Facility and maintained in an SQF compliance readiness.
Responsible for working with the HSE Manager on overseeing the pickup and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
Responsible for routine regulatory inspections per the HSE Manager in support of our Environmental and Safety Compliance programs.
Troubleshooting: Confers with operators and observes, listens for unusual sounds, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction.
Disassembles machinery and equipment to gain access and remove defective parts, make repairs, and then reassemble.
Installs, repairs, replaces, changes, adjusts, and aligns components of machinery and equipment.
Test-runs repaired machinery and equipment to verify adequacy of repairs.
Performs RCFAs (Root Cause Failure Analysis) on equipment failures.
Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of equipment and machinery.
Examines parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
Completes daily work orders within the time frame specified on the work order.
Installs machinery and equipment.
Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate.
Inspects drives, motors and belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filters, and performs other maintenance functions, following checklists.
Transports machine parts, tools, equipment and other material between work areas and storage using carts, fork truck, lift, pallet jack, etc.
Records repairs and maintenance performed.
Orders or requisitions parts and supplies from catalogs and suppliers, or obtains them from store room.

Assists Craftsmen in basic preventive maintenance functions on production equipment.

Continually monitors and maintains work areas to keep them clean and well organized.
Responsible for compliance with all facility food safety and quality policies and procedures including product safety (GMP’s)/Sanitation policies and procedures.
Employee must continually work to promote the orderliness and cleanliness of their work area in support of SQF/5’s and other company standards.
Must be supportive of GPI’s Mission, Vision and Core Values (Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork).
Must be supportive and involved in GPI efforts for LEAN, 5’s, Six Sigma and other Continuous Improvement programs and processes.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.
Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.
Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.
Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.
