Job Duties: Confers with operators, observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunction. Has a good understanding of and no physical problems with NH3 (Ammonia) Has a good working knowledge of industrial ammonia system and steam generation equipment. Daily chemical testing and logging all test results. Respond correctly to results outside normal parameters. Make adjustments required to maintain refrigeration & Utility system within established limits. Safe and efficient operation of refrigeration, steam generation and all utility systems. Interface with state and federal government agency Works well with outside venders. Disassemble machinery and equipment to make repairs. Examines parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear. Repair, replace, adjust, and align components of machinery and equipment. Clean and lubricates parts, equipment, and machinery. Test-run repaired machinery and equipment to verify repairs. Fabricate replacement parts. Weld to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment. Order or requisitions parts and materials. Repair and replace electrical wiring and components. Record repairs and maintenance performed in an accurate and timely manner. Member of the Emergency Response Team. Ability to work on AC/DC power and control circuits. Has all required tools to perform job and carries basic tools and test equipment at all times. Maintains tools in workable condition at all times. Maintain basic computer skills in order to perform maintenance and repair on computer-controlled machinery. Work on PLC controls, VFD drives, and demonstrates a good understanding of instrumentation. Effectively troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and process issues in an independent manner. Communicate effectively and works well with all employees, visitors and vendors. Reliable and consistent attendance and available to work any shift, overtime or holidays as required; may be required to cover the absence of key personnel. Work overtime as required. Performs other duties as may be required. Qualifications: High School graduate plus a minimum of two (2) years’ industrial maintenance experience within Dairy, Food, and/or Beverage industry or a combination of experience, formal training and education. Minimum of five (5) years refrigeration, steam generation and compressed air systems experience preferred. RETA/CARO certified preferred. Working knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, benefits, repair, and maintenance. Effective troubleshooting skills; must be able to systematically diagnose electrical and/or mechanical problems. Working knowledge of AC & DC power and control voltages, PLC, VFD drives and process instrumentation. Basic computer hardware and software skills.
