About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to support basic operational functions for all Correction Enterprises plants statewide. These facilities may contain close, medium and/or minimum custody offenders. This position is responsible for maintaining adequate technician coverage to maximize plant operations and minimize costly down time that inhibits production. This position is under the direction of the Correction Enterprises Maintenance/Construction Supervisor II to resolve equipment/facility problems that delay production and any manufacturing operations at the plant. The response and resolution of any problems must be done in a timely and cost-effective manner. This position may supervise staff or offenders while performing duties. It is essential that this position be well-versed in the operation of all power and hand tools, and rolling equipment (forklifts, scissor lifts) and is comfortable with the operation and training of such. The working hours for this position are Monday- Thursday 6:00 am – 4:30 pm. Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development diploma and two (2) years of experience in the performance of the full range of journey level tasks associated with two (2) or more highly complex mechanical or building trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented forklift operation experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, and materials used in general maintenance and the repair of manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Documented experience reading and interpreting building codes, drawings and schematics
  • Experience using welding equipment
