About The Position

The MT Maintenance Mechanic Senior exists to ensure the safe, efficient operation and maintenance of campus buildings and equipment. This position performs semi-skilled construction and maintenance tasks, including comprehensive inspections, preventive maintenance, routine and emergency repairs, and support for renovation and construction activities. Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical systems, installing fixtures, estimating repair needs, and maintaining tools and supplies. The role contributes to a safe, functional, and well-maintained campus environment under general supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related work experience, including at least three (3) years performing building maintenance, mechanical repair, construction, or related trade work.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance and repair methods
  • Skill in operating hand and power tools of the trade
  • Ability to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical and structural systems
  • Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work safely in varied indoor and outdoor environments
  • Candidates selected for employment may be subject to medical inquiries and/or medical examinations to determine ability to perform the job.
  • A non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver's license valid in the State of Maryland may be required.
  • Candidates selected for employment may be required to be trained to work with asbestos.
  • Employees in this job class assigned to work with equipment containing CFC refrigerants must achieve and maintain valid certification in accordance with federal law.
