About The Position

Works under general supervision to perform various repair and maintenance work
and perform other generalized duties in the operation of county facilities.

Requirements

• Two (2) years of experience as a maintenance mechanic; AND
• High school diploma or possess a GED.
• PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
• Must have manual dexterity.
• Must pass a physical examination.
• Must be able to work in a jail environment.

Responsibilities

• Replaces defective electrical switches and other fixtures, including changing ballasts with the power off.
• Paints walls, floors, woodwork, and fixtures of buildings using spray guns, rollers, and brushes.
• Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, faucets, complete flush valves, pressure regulators, and open clogged drains using plumbers’ tools.
• Replaces and repairs brick and plaster walls.
• Makes and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures using saws, braces, bits, and other carpenters’ tools.
• Performs minor welding jobs.
• Performs other related duties as required or directed.
