About The Position

The Julian F. Keith Alcohol & Drug Abuse Treatment Center (JFK-ADATC) in Black Mountain is currently accepting applications for a full-time Maintenance Mechanic IV. Position is responsible to the Maintenance Director for the efficient, effective and timely preventive maintenance of and repairs to buildings, equipment and grounds and the continuous maintenance of a safe environment. Position receives guidance and instructions orally and in writing in various forms such as federal and state regulations and laws, architectural drawings, policies, procedures, memoranda and informal notes. Position uses initiative and good judgment in performing duties. Keeps the Maintenance Director informed of planned activities, priorities, and the status of projects underway or completed. Informs the Maintenance Director of any problems, which may arise, and recommends solutions. Position anticipates and prepares for seasonal problems and duties to assure timely, efficient and cost effect reaction, when required.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license required.
  • This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and/or materials used in the general maintenance and/or repair of buildings, equipment and/or machinery.
  • Ability to operate the more common types of machine shop equipment.
  • Ability to service and repair HVAC equipment and perform light electrical duties.
  • This position requires current certification by the EPA as a type II, III or universal technician as required by 40 CFR Part82, subpart F.
