This position is assigned to the Piedmont Region Maintenance Yard and is located in Clinton, NC. The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance tasks, and repairs, ensuring that assigned systems within adult correction facilities and support buildings are maintained in a safe and efficient manner. This position is required to perform at the Journeyman Level in the General Construction/Carpentry Trades, and proficient at the Journeyman Level in at least one other trade such as, Fabrication and Welding, HVAC, Plumbing or Electrical. This position will be required to perform general construction tasks such as Metal Stud Framing, Drywall Installation and Finishing, Hollow Metal Component Installation, Finish Hardware Installation, Concrete Forming and Finishing, Flooring Renovations, Roofing Renovations, Vinyl Siding Installation, Suspended Ceiling Installation, Painting, and some Masonry. This position may also be required to perform routine preventive maintenance on HVAC Systems, perform Electrical repairs to lighting and building wiring, Plumbing repairs to potable and wastewater drainage systems. This position does require supervising of a semi-skilled and unskilled inmate labor work force to assist with the completion of tasks. Must have a valid NC Driver’s License or the ability to obtain an NC Driver’s License within 30 days of hire. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC): The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance and Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs and Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation and Reentry.
