About The Position

Fuji Food Products is a leading manufacturer and nationwide distributor of fresh savory foods. We are the largest manufacturer and distributor of packaged sushi in the country. Under recognized brands such as Fujisan, and Okami, among others; our products include salads, sandwiches, wraps, platters, rice bowls, organic edamame, spring rolls, veggie burgers another appetizing grab-and-go meals and snacks. These fresh healthy products can be found in airports, convenience stores, major grocery stores, club format stores and other retail locations across 45 states. The Company has three production facilities and 7 major distribution centers. All corporate manufacturing facilities are fully USDA, FDA and GFSI certified. JOB SUMMARY: The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for facility maintenance, preventative maintenance program, security, repair, and physical operation of the equipment in the facility and performs related duties as required. This position performs skilled craft work under the direction of the Lead Maintenance Mechanic and, depending on the size of facility, may report to the Plant Manager or General Manager. Maintenance Mechanic II installs, maintains, repairs, and inspects mechanical equipment used in specialized food manufacturing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent helpful.
  • 5 years in the trade as a mechanic/technician
  • Two years experience in building construction, maintenance, or repair work; or, knowledge in the plumbing, electrical and welding fields.
  • Must have a valid California Class C Driver’s License
  • Communication – Able to read and communicate verbally in English, with bilingual ability in Spanish helpful. Expresses himself/herself verbally in a clear, and concise manner. Listens actively and is able to understand and follow verbal instructions. Builds rapport with others and adjusts communication style appropriately in interactions with others. Uses standard grammar effectively.

  • Technical Skills – Ability to operate standard office machines (telephone, personal computer, copier/printer, fax, etc.), as well as mechanical tools, drills, saws and grinders. Working knowledge of electronic mail, MS Word and Excel, and preventative maintenance programs like Computer Maintenance Management Software (CMMS). Able to learn and apply departmental or Company policies, procedures and rules. Ability to learn and apply Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations pertaining to building and equipment maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, move and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures and plumbing using hand tools, electric trucks, fork lifts, and dollies.
  • Work closely with production managers to eliminate downtime and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment.
  • Complete departmental paperwork such as work logs, PM sheets, breakdown reports and corrective action log.
  • Read and understand technical equipment manuals and diagrams.
  • Perform factory startup inspections.
  • Conduct boiler checks, blow downs and water softener checks.
  • Conduct cooling tower checks and blow downs.
  • Perform ventilation system checks.
  • Perform basic refrigeration system checks.
  • Work with outside vendors as needed.
  • Move, replace, and install machinery and equipment
  • Disassemble, reassemble, and rebuild gearboxes valves, cylinders, solenoid valves, pumps and other factory-related equipment.
  • Thread pipe using appropriate tools.
  • Size sprockets and pulleys to determine speed ratios.
  • Distinguish chain, sprocket and V-belt sizes and types.
  • Measure and determine types and sizes of bearings, and designate bearing numbers for placement of parts orders.
  • Understand and follow proper handling of bearings.
  • Adjust conveyor belt tracking and tension.
  • Perform basic copper soldering.
