Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Mechanic/Electrician at our Longview manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, or replacing mechanical equipment or mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical devices and components. Additionally, the Mechanic will often fabricate any mechanical devices or items which will requiring shop skills or tools as requested. The successful candidate will communicate continuously with department managers and employees to coordinate mechanical and electrical repairs. Additional responsibilities of the Maintenance, Mechanic/Electrician:

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • 1-2 years in i ndustrial maintenance is highly preferred with some electrical background.
  • Good communication and advanced math skills.
  • Must be forklift certified.
  • Ability to operate a genie boom, and scissor lift.
  • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
  • Must possess a variety of personally owned industrial hand tools.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and call-in with little notice.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of conveyor systems and components, belts, bearing, sprockets, gear reducers
  • Hand tool knowledge, welding, cutting, minor fabrication
  • Timely communication of problems and issues affecting plant performance to management
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform work independently (work alone)
  • Perform basic plumbing on machinery and/or equipment
  • Communicate with and maintain a team-based attitude with fellow co-workers and managers
  • Maintain plant fire system
  • Document calibration and configuration procedures required to allow production equipment to run efficiently within product specifications
