About The Position

Inside the Role TRAINING PROVIDED: Ø All hands-on training will be provided by a certified Journeyman. This will include repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Will perform various duties involved in repair and maintenance of a wide variety of machine tools (e.g. CNC Machining Centers, CNC Punches, Shears, Press Brakes, Punch Presses), material handling equipment and auxiliary plant equipment (e.g. HVAC equipment, air compressors, electrical and lighting equipment), cleaning and painting, yard work, lubricating, preventative maintenance. All educational requirements must be completed within a four-year, 8000-hour apprenticeship period. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: Ø Miscellaneous hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, screw drivers, etc., portable power tools, floor and overhead cranes, articulating and scissors maintenance lifts, forklifts, welders, burn torches, grinders, drill presses, threading equipment, hydraulic presses, meters, ladders and fire protection equipment. REQUIREMENTS FOR JOB: Ø Should be able to learn and apply all the essential functions of the job. Ø All employees in this program will be on probation for a period of 2000 hours. Performance will be reviewed by the Joint Apprenticeship Committee regular intervals. Upon completion of the Apprenticeship Program the candidate will be moved to the Journeyman’s pay rate of a Grade ST-C. Ø Apprentices will be required to work across all (3) shifts. Ø Internal candidate’s hourly wage will be determined by the current hourly pay reviewed by the Joint Apprenticeship Committee. Ø All Apprentice candidates are required to pass a RISE Tier 1 Exam (Math and English) Ø Exams are given and administered by Cleveland Community College. The applicants that meet the minimum test scores requirements in RISE Testing will receive an interview from the Joint Apprenticeship Committee.
