About The Position

The Maintenance Mechanic performs work involving maintenance skills to install, repair, and maintain machines, mechanical equipment, or structure of the facility. This role involves identifying the cause and completing the repair of unexpected breakdowns, troubleshooting electrical/electronic, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, and building components on industrial equipment plant-wide, and having basic knowledge of PLCs and controls. The mechanic will also perform preventative maintenance inspections and service on machines, fabricate new and/or replacement metal parts for equipment, prepare reports documenting work performed, and maintain shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies. Key responsibilities include overseeing and enforcing lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, safely operating overhead cranes and hoisting equipment, actively participating in problem-solving processes, and adhering to safety protocols, efficient material handling, housekeeping practices (5S+), and company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must have a High School diploma or GED (General Education Degree) from an accredited institution.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of relevant, job-specific experience.
  • Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Nacogdoches, TX will be considered. Active-Duty Military service member candidates are exempt from this geographical area limitation.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, grabbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and using both hands to lift and lower materials, with or without accommodations.
  • Adhere to proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when on the floor (safety glasses, safety shoes, ear plugs, FR shirts, and others based on the department you're in).
  • Work efficiently in hot environments and tolerate loud noises.

  • Be able to read and interpret part, machine, hydraulic, & electrical schematics.
  • Proficient in using a multi-meter.
  • Understand fundamentals of electricity, plumbing, pneumatic systems and hydraulics.
  • Experience in Electro-mechanical work, variable frequency drives, welding, pneumatic controls, Inventory management, Air Compressors, Predictive Maintenance and Conveyor systems.
  • Understanding of servo motors, encoders, drivers, PLC’s and controls.

Responsibilities

  • Identity the cause and complete the repair of unexpected breakdowns.
  • Troubleshoot electrical/electronic, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical and building components on industrial equipment plant wide and have basic knowledge of PLC’s and controls.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and service on machines.
  • Fabricate new and/or replacement metal parts for equipment.
  • Prepares reports documenting work performed.
  • Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Oversee and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols to guarantee the safe deactivation and isolation of equipment, ensuring energy control procedures are correctly applied to prevent inadvertent machine startup or hazardous energy discharge during repair or maintenance, in line with OSHA regulations and organizational safety guidelines.
  • Safely operates overhead cranes and hoisting equipment to move materials, components, and finished products within the manufacturing facility.
  • Actively participates in problem-solving processes, contributing to efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement within the organization.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, ensures efficient material handling, housekeeping practices (5S+), and company policies and procedures.
