About The Position

A person in this position performs complex advanced technical work supervising, directing and participating in the installation, maintenance and repair of treatment plant and related mechanical, electrical, electronic and SCADA equipment, scheduling projects, maintaining records and files, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Facilities Director. Departmental supervision is exercised over all personnel within the department. Education: Associates degree with coursework in electrical or mechanical systems, or related field and extensive experience in wastewater treatment plant operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Competencies/Experience: Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of construction, repairs, and/or maintenance of treatment plant equipment, vehicles, and buildings; thorough knowledge of administrative procedures, Authority rules and regulations and modern management techniques and methods; thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work; thorough knowledge to read electrical and mechanical blue prints, schematics, maps and drawings; thorough knowledge of the use of standard office equipment and applicable software applications; thorough knowledge of the use of various types of software associated with the operation of a waste treatment facility (i.e. SCADA, Hach WIMS, PLC, etc.); thorough knowledge of the use of equipment and tools required in the performance of job functions; general knowledge of budgeting and procurement; ability to troubleshoot problems, collect data, establish facts and take proper remedial action; ability to keep records and prepare complex technical reports; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms; ability to plan, organize, direct and evaluate the work of skilled, semiskilled and technical employees; ability to use basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry to solve problems; ability to make arithmetic computations; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, engineers, supervisors, other professionals, and employees. License or Certification: Valid driver's license in the State of North Carolina.
