About The Position

FEED MILL MAINTENANCE MANAGER Feed Mill Operations Job Summary The Feed Mill Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance activities at the feed mill, ensuring equipment reliability, facility safety, and efficient operation of production systems. This role manages preventive maintenance programs, supervises maintenance personnel, coordinates repairs, and partners with production leadership to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. The Maintenance Manager also ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and operational standards across all mill functions. This is a full-time, exempt position. Reporting Relationships Reports directly to the Feed Mill Manager or Operations Manager. Supervises maintenance technicians and support staff. Works closely with production, control room, and safety teams. Personal Commitments Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance; 2 years in a supervisory or management role preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; PLC troubleshooting experience a plus.
  • Experience in feed milling, grain handling, or agricultural manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance planning, inventory control, and safety regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights, in confined spaces, or in varying temperatures.
  • Requires frequent standing, climbing, bending, and use of tools or equipment.
  • Must be able to safely operate forklifts, lifts, and power tools.
  • Must be able to work extended hours or weekends as needed for emergency repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and direct all maintenance activities for mill equipment and facilities.
  • Supervise and train maintenance technicians, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for production equipment, conveyors, elevators, motors, and control systems.
  • Prioritize maintenance tasks in coordination with production schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation for audits, inspections, and reporting.
  • Manage parts inventory, maintenance budgets, and vendor relationships.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Support control room operations by ensuring optimal performance of batching, mixing, pelleting, and conveying systems.
  • Oversee repairs and calibrations for motors, sensors, belts, gearboxes, and augers.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors for major repairs, fabrication, or system installations.
  • Assist with mill upgrades, expansion projects, and new equipment installations.
  • Enforce safety policies and ensure all maintenance activities meet OSHA and company standards.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and fire safety regulations.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free maintenance areas.
  • Manage maintenance schedules and work orders using CMMS or tracking systems.
  • Collaborate with mill management on capital improvement planning and long-term maintenance strategy.
  • Train and mentor maintenance staff, promoting skill development and safety awareness.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and report on maintenance status and priorities.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as downtime, maintenance costs, and equipment reliability.
