About The Position

The Maintenance Manager at Hunterstown Generating Station leads all plant maintenance activities, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of combined cycle equipment. The role oversees personnel, maintenance programs, projects, and contractors while promoting safety, workforce development, and regulatory compliance. It also manages preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, evaluates equipment performance, and drives improvements to maximize plant reliability and availability.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or equivalent is desired, providing a strong foundation for understanding the technical aspects of power plant operations and management. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Extensive leadership experience in power plant maintenance and operations, with a strong track record managing complex generating equipment, systems, and maintenance programs.
  • Strong technical expertise in power plant equipment and systems, including gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and balance-of-plant systems, with the ability to diagnose equipment failures and improve plant reliability and performance.
  • Proven experience developing and managing comprehensive maintenance programs that incorporate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies, with particular emphasis on combustion turbine systems.
  • Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and reliability-centered maintenance methodologies to track asset performance, schedule work activities, and support long-term equipment reliability.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coordinate maintenance personnel, assign work priorities, and maintain a productive and accountable work environment.
  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations, procedures, and industry standards, supported by a consistent record of promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven capacity to identify root causes of equipment failures and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective coordination with operations personnel, management, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for the plant maintenance function, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of combined cycle equipment, including GE 7F.04 combustion turbines, GE D11 steam turbine, and balance-of-plant systems, while managing personnel, maintenance programs, projects, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise maintenance personnel to ensure repair and maintenance work on turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems is performed safely, efficiently, and according to procedures and the station maintenance manual.
  • Support workforce development through recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training to maintain a skilled, properly staffed maintenance team.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, including confined space, LOTO, and chemical safety practices, while supporting initiatives, maintaining records, and ensuring adherence to the Plant’s Safety Manual.
  • Manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for all combined cycle systems to ensure equipment reliability and timely completion of scheduled work.
  • Analyze equipment failures and maintenance trends, providing data and recommendations to improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Serve as project manager for maintenance and capital projects, coordinating schedules, resources, and technical activities to ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and on time.
  • Develop and manage contracts, scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for internal and external maintenance resources to ensure effective project execution and cost control.
  • Prepare task lists, schedules, and work packages for plant and contractor personnel during normal operations and outages, ensuring required parts, tools, materials, and critical spares are available and staged to support maintenance work.
  • Review, track, and maintain work orders in the CMMS for combined cycle equipment to ensure accuracy, completeness, and historical documentation.
  • Administer the plant’s Management of Change (MOC) process to ensure all equipment, system, and procedural changes are properly reviewed, documented, and implemented.
  • Continuously evaluate maintenance plans, procedures, and schedules to improve performance, quality, and plant availability.
  • Collaborate with plant departments, operations personnel, and the NERC coordinator to support maintenance planning, regulatory compliance, and accurate documentation.
  • Maintain maintenance manuals, vendor documentation, inventory records, and warehouse materials while supporting plant policies, long-range planning, and community engagement.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Benefits

  • This position offers an annual base salary ranging from $150,075 to $181,125 and includes eligibility for an annual performance bonus.
