About The Position

Under direction from the Chief Operating Officer the incumbent shall plan, supervise, organize and direct the Maintenance Department to provide mechanical and electrical maintenance for water treatment plants and other water system infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform the job duties successfully.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role within maintenance, utilities, or related.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems in an industrial or utility environment.
  • Strong leadership experience including performance management, employee development, and team accountability.
  • Experience developing and managing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with asset management systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to perform manual labor and be willing and able to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and provides direction for Facilities and Fleet.
  • Oversees and provides direction for Maintenance repair and Distribution Inventory.
  • Establishes or participates in partnerships or committees for industry progression and innovation.
  • Responsible for implementation of department level strategic goals.
  • Plan, organize, inspect, and maintain quality repairs for the water treatment plants, water pump stations, distribution mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Reviews Modifications, New Construction Drawings Mechanical, Electrical and Safety.
  • Direct inspections and testing of machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose problems and make repairs within scope of authority.
  • Recommend solutions to problems both short term and long term.
  • Prepare department budget and monitor expenditures of funds within the budget.
  • Oversee the testing of parts and equipment to determine their performance.
  • Requisition parts and equipment within scope of authority.
  • Direct the establishment, updating and maintenance of the reliability and preventive maintenance program.
  • Responsible for developing continuous improvement in the fields of Predictive Maintenance tactics.
  • Initiates purchase orders for parts and equipment.
  • Review quality control, maintenance reports, and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.
  • Ensure that tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
  • Work closely with and maintain good working relations with employees in all departments.
  • Maintain good working relationships with all contractors and vendors.
  • Interview, hire, evaluate and disciple staff as needed.
  • Develop subordinates through training, mentoring and career development.
  • Assume ownership of all department activities and be accountable for results of department work product.
  • Work as a team member and cooperate with others on group projects.
  • Maintain a positive work environment for self and Maintenance Department.
  • Provides expert knowledge, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and/or control system equipment.
  • Maintains knowledge of current industry trends and products in area(s) of responsibility.
  • Know and uphold the policies, procedures and philosophies of Del-Co Water Co., Inc.
  • Must be available for “call outs” and be available for work during off shifts.
  • Know and follow all safety guidelines as well as provide safety training and reinforce safety with department staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
