About The Position

Leadership & Team Management Supervise, coach, and develop a team of six maintenance mechanics. Assign work, establish priorities, and manage daily, weekly, and preventative maintenance schedules. Conduct performance evaluations and support ongoing training and skills development. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, urgency, and teamwork. Maintenance Operations Ensure proper maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of bakery equipment including mixers, ovens, conveyors, packaging equipment, and refrigeration systems. Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize unplanned downtime. Respond to and resolve equipment breakdowns promptly, including off-hours support as needed. Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and work orders. Reliability & Continuous Improvement Analyze equipment performance, downtime trends, and root causes of failures. Recommend and implement improvements to equipment reliability and maintenance processes. Support capital projects, equipment installations, and production line modifications. Partner with Operations to improve OEE and overall production efficiency. Safety, Compliance & Food Manufacturing Standards Ensure maintenance activities comply with OSHA regulations, local/state requirements, and food safety standards (GMPs, SQF, BRC, or similar). Enforce lockout/tagout, confined space, and other safety procedures. Support safety, food safety, and regulatory audits and inspections. Budgeting & Vendor Management Manage the maintenance budget, including labor, parts, and outside services. Maintain spare parts inventory and identify critical spare parts requirements. Coordinate with external contractors and equipment vendors. Evaluate vendor performance and cost effectiveness.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food or bakery manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems.
  • Solid understanding of food manufacturing safety and GMP requirements.
  • Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial baking or high-speed food production.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience (PLCs a plus).
  • Technical degree, trade certification, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Experience supporting SQF, BRC, or similar food safety certifications.
