Basic Job Functions:This Crane Maintenance Lead will be responsible for, but not limited to working with the NYS Crane Maintenance Supervisor and related teams to provide safe and timely responses to mill issues and calls, ensuring NYS/Maintenance department policies and procedures are followed, supporting maintenance Crane projects and PM’s, taking a lead role in any accidents and/or emergency situations, and following up with Maintenance Supervisor on any mill or personnel issues. The Crane Maintenance Lead will also be expected to demonstrate Safety-Minded support of our entire Maintenance Team while seeking to provide World-Class Reliability for our customers. The position will be expected to work weekends and/or holidays as needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • 2 years’ experience as an Electrician 1/Millwright 1 or equivalent
  • 5 years’ Overhead Crane maintenance experience in heavy industrial setting
  • 6+ months of leadership experience
  • Communication Skills The ability to give full attention to what others are saying and communicating information so that others will understand.
  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work Developing specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual work and/or the work of the team.
  • Leadership Presence and Courage Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating and supporting change, and production process issues that arise. This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict head on.
  • Developing and Building Teams Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members as well as effectively managing and resolving conflict as needed.
  • Problem Solving & Judgment/Decision Making Identifying problems and analyzing or reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options in order to choose the most appropriate solution.
