About The Position

The Team Leader plays a critical role in supporting and guiding the maintenance team to ensure production and facility equipment operates efficiently and safely. The Team Leader assists in the coordination of maintenance activities, fostering teamwork, and supporting the location’s goals for safety, quality, and productivity. The Team Leader collaborates with technicians and supervisors to prioritize tasks, monitor progress, and provide technical expertise as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with proven experience in pneumatics, hydraulics, and welding.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to guide others in finding solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to prioritize team activities effectively.
  • Ability to foster teamwork, motivate others, and build positive working relationships.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Computer proficiency in maintenance management software and technical troubleshooting tools.
  • Valid forklift license or ability to obtain.
  • Ability to work independently and with multiple team members.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, often changing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience, including leadership responsibilities such as mentoring or task coordination.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally heavier objects with assistance.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and kneeling throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable with repetitive movements such as reaching, grasping, and handling materials.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature environments.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs and perform tasks at heights when necessary.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors for electrical troubleshooting.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with PLC controls, ladder logic, and other technical systems (preferred).
  • Vocational or technical training in industrial mechanics, pneumatics, or hydraulics is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing daily maintenance tasks, ensuring team alignment with plant goals and priorities.
  • Collaborate with technicians to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and welding systems.
  • Act as a liaison between maintenance technicians and supervisors, providing updates on task progress, challenges, and resource needs.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to safety protocols, including lockout/tag-out procedures, PPE usage, and compliance with company policies.
  • Mentor team members by sharing technical knowledge and providing on-the-job training to enhance skills in troubleshooting and repair.
  • Proactively identify needed spare parts for equipment repairs and preventive maintenance, ensuring accurate documentation and timely ordering to minimize downtime and maintain inventory efficiency.
  • Assist in tracking work completion, maintaining accurate records in computerized maintenance management systems, and reporting on team performance metrics.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvements and cost savings related to maintenance operations.
  • Help resolve technical challenges by diagnosing issues, recommending solutions, and supporting corrective actions.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are completed on schedule and documented appropriately.
  • Step in to assist with hands-on maintenance tasks during high-demand periods or as needed to minimize downtime.
  • Support company values and continuous improvement efforts by performing additional tasks as assigned by management.
