About The Position

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor or Manager, the Maintenance Lead Technician plays a key leadership role in ensuring all equipment repairs and maintenance are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. This position oversees a team of technicians and provides hands-on support and expertise for complex diagnostics and repairs on diesel and non-diesel trucks and equipment, including hydraulic, electrical, HVAC, and chassis systems. The Lead Technician is also responsible for assigning and scheduling repair work, inspecting vendor repairs for quality assurance, and mentoring less experienced technicians. The goal is to minimize downtime, improve shop productivity, and uphold the highest safety and performance standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 year of experience on heavy equipment and truck maintenance experience
  • Minimum of 4 year of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of bothgasoline and diesel powered equipment diagnosis and repair.
  • Strong ability to independently inspect and repair systems on heavy trucks, including: Suspension, steering, brakes, engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical, drivetrain, diesel emissions
  • Experience with OSHA regulations (HazCom, Lockout/Tagout, fire protection)
  • Supervisory or lead technician experience (1+ year)
  • ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate from an accredited automotive college or technical school is a plus
  • Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and fabrication for line maintenance needs.
  • Lead and direct the daily work of assigned technicians to ensure safe, timely, and efficient repairs.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic issues using diagnostic tools.
  • Review and inspect repairs completed by third-party vendors to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Step in for Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities when needed.
  • Mentor and coach technicians on diagnostic and repair techniques.
  • Complete required company training programs and certifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
