Day to day as a Maintenance Lead - (Drainage/Stormwater) As the City's Maintenance Lead - (Drainage/Stormwater), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all City facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. Your daily responsibilities will involve leading crews across diverse projects, making your impact felt throughout the community. You'll engage in hands-on problem-solving by performing minor repairs and coordinating vendor work, all while mentoring staff to foster a culture of excellence. Additionally, you will manage essential records and provide critical support for special events, linking your work directly to the City's operations. Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, and methods used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities.
  • Understanding safety practices related to building and construction trades
  • Familiarity with the principles governing infrastructure operations in the Public Works Department, including streets, and vehicle maintenance.
  • Effective leadership abilities to train personnel and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, vendors, contractors, the public, and city officials.
  • Proficiency in utilizing asset management tools such as ArcGIS and work order systems is vital for maintaining accurate records.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills will aid in documenting fieldwork and conveying information clearly.
  • The ability to plan, prioritize, and implement effective maintenance strategies across various facilities will support the overall success of City operations.
  • Knowledge of: Equipment facilities materials methods and procedures used in maintenance construction and repair activities.
  • Safety practices and procedures relating to the building and construction trades.
  • Methods and procedures used in construction and repair of operations of light equipment, vehicles, tools, facilities, and landscaping.
  • Strong understanding of the principles and practices, equipment, and tools used in operating, maintaining, repairing, replacing, and constructing infrastructure in each area of the Public Works Department (City Drainage and Stormwater).
  • Safe practices for operations, handling materials, and best practices in the areas of janitorial services, drainage maintenance, construction and traffic control.
  • Grade/elevation (transit) measurements; implement erosion/silt-control practices and field BMPS.
  • Contractor oversight and vendor coordination practices.
  • Ability to: Lead and train personnel.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers vendors contractors the public and city officials.
  • Lead and train crews across facilities maintenance.
  • Utilize asset management tools (e.g. ArcGIS work order systems) to maintain records and maps.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Engineering to scope schedules and deliver projects.
  • Document field work and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Skills: Basic computer skills such as word processing spreadsheets, emails, and the ability to learn basic computer tasks and other applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
