About The Position

This position is for a strong and physically fit person to perform all types of labor work, including but not limited to, janitorial, maintenance, property upkeep and equipment repair. Works where and when needed and as directed. A friendly and congenial attitude with customers is mandatory.

Requirements

Able to clearly, read, speak, write and understand English.
Able to lift 70 pounds to a 45-inch height and carry it 100 yards.
Able to work in a physically strenuous position for not less than eight (8) hours a day.
Able to work with all types of solvents and lubricants.
Able to work a forty (40) hour work week including weekends and evenings.
Able to work outside in all types of weather.
Able to work with cleaning chemicals normally used in janitorial duties.
Able to use hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, electric drill, saws, mop, broom, scrub brush.
Able to work in a marine environment over water with different types of walkways, gang planks, uneven surfaces.
Ability to clean and maintain City equipment when required by Supervisors.
Ability to perform janitorial duties, order cleaning supplies and clean, sweep, mop floors and handle cleaning chemicals associated with janitorial cleaning.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
Ability to drive trucks and load and unload heavy objects.
Ability to repair or replace electrical parts or fixtures.
Ability to work a 40-hour work week and respond to after-hour emergencies as necessary.
Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
Good physical condition.
Post hire, a signed authorization from physician that employee can perform work may be required.
Able to read and write work orders.
Ability to deal with the general public in a courteous and helpful manner.
Able to work on a schedule.
Basic math skills required to perform the job.
Must possess or be able to attain certification in prevention/ resolution of oil spills and hazardous material.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Assist with the care and maintenance of city equipment, docks and buildings at the facility.
Clean and stock restroom facilities on property which includes sweeping scrubbing, and mopping.
Clean showers and laundry area daily.
Pressure washing.
Perform carpentry repairs.
Pick up and empty garbage containers throughout the property when directed.
Perform instructed plumbing and electrical repairs.
Drive a truck, load and unload materials and equipment as required.
Clean and maintain City trucks and equipment when required by Supervisor.
Read/fill out Work Orders provided by Supervisor and maintain work schedules as directed.
Paint various types of surfaces.
Remove trash, garbage and debris from assigned areas.
Small engine repair.
Enforcement of marina rules and regulations.
Storm preparation. If not required to evacuate for a storm, shall be on call as needed during and immediately after the storm for emergency repairs, damage assessment and clean up.
Perform other duties as assigned and/or required.
