Responsible for light maintenance and repair, working on small scale in-house construction projects, and cleaning tasks. Assists with grounds duties when needed. All work to be completed in a safe, professional manner. Must take extra precautions when working in patient care areas and specifically keep tools out of the reach of children. Must possess basic mechanical knowledge and show competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices and gauges. Ability to work from blueprints, schematics and technical manuals helpful. Must be able to explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting, and function with safety, moral end efficiency of the department in mind. Ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled. Must comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code. Must understand written and verbal communications. Good written and oral communications skills required. Works independently with minimal supervision. Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances. Self-motivated with ability to work both independently and with a team. Depending on facility size, additional duties may include but are not limited to: perform installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, to ensure a safe and efficient environment; maintain campus grounds and perform other outside maintenance duties; perform general duties such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair and maintenance. Will have elevated responsibility in relation to work orders and specifications in performing necessary preventative maintenance and closing out work orders. Responsible for researching manufacturers' recommendations. Construction responsibilities to include, but not limited to: demo of areas where small scale construction will occur, demo and replacement of ceiling tiles, assistance with installation of flooring, and assistance with all trade aspects of construction projects, all in a neat, professional manner. Regular duties also include maintenance of therapy pool and eyewash testing areas. Maintains documentation and inventory of facility items required by Joint Commission standards. May require on-call duties as needed or as directed by the department. Ability to use computer or tablet for work order system.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must obtain a Special Boiler License within one year of employment.
  • Must have a valid Minnesota driver's license and must be insurable.

  • Experience with building automation systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC preferred.
