Role: Performs general maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment. The salary range of $23.00 to $34.50 hourly. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 35% Repairs all fans, air conditioners, chillers, pumps, boilers, AHUs, and unit vents. 25% Performs preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment (greases equipment, oils motors, changes belts, changes air filters, etc.) to keep equipment in good working condition. 20% Assists electrician with electrical repair and maintenance as needed (installs wall sockets and light fixtures, re-wires instructional spaces, etc.). 10% Performs general maintenance duties including moving furniture or boxes, setting up for special events, checking buildings during campus holidays, and taking emergency maintenance calls (on-call duty). 5% Attends training and professional development exercises as required by the supervisor. 5% Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains current knowledge of HVAC systems and trade specific equipment and machinery. Complies with all federal and state laws, regulations, and codes regarding HVAC and electrical technology. Works as an effective member of the team to complete tasks or prepare for special events. Maintains an acceptable record of timeliness and attendance. Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure. This includes being able to demonstrate a lack of criminal history or continuous ties to a foreign adversary, as defined by the U.S. Department of Commerce. This is a minimum qualification for all positions that research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, such as communications systems, computer networks, and cybersecurity systems. Knowledge and Skills: Experience: Experience required equivalent to a 2 year degree, or apprenticeship program. Education: (1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program. Interpersonal Skills: Work normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (students, visitors or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information. Other Skills: Certified HVAC technician. Valid Texas driver's license. Physical Requirements: This position requires moderate physical exertion: the ability to lift 100 pounds with assistance, walking or standing for long periods of time, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Must be able to drive college maintenance vehicles and operate equipment. Work Environment: Must be able to work in all weather conditions and withstand extreme hot and cold working conditions and loud noise environments. Position also requires work in high, precarious places, exposure to noxious odors, loud noises, airborne particles, vibrations, and electrical shock.
