About The Position

As a Maintenance Helper at JLL, you will play a vital supporting role in the operations and upkeep of our client's facility in Pontiac, MI. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools with some hands-on experience working with pumps, motors, speed and feed systems, or hydraulics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a detail-oriented approach to documenting work activities and completing required reports.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for communication, data entry, and reporting purposes.
  • Current or ability to obtain and maintain a forklift and aerial lift operator's license as required by the facility.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as MAXIMO for work order tracking and preventive maintenance scheduling.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, building equipment, and industrial maintenance practices in a manufacturing or facility environment.
  • Previous experience in a maintenance helper, technician assistant, or similar support role within an industrial or commercial facility.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols including lockout/tagout (LOTO), pre-task planning, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, follow directions from senior technicians and supervisors, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance technical skills and safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled maintenance technicians with the operation, inspection, and repair of pumps, motors, speed and feed systems, and hydraulic equipment to support facility operations.
  • Participate in the completion of preventive maintenance (PM) tasks and repairs according to scheduled timelines, ensuring high completion rates and minimal equipment downtime.
  • Respond to help desk immediate work orders within 24 hours, performing general repairs, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Utilize a maintenance management system such as MAXIMO to document work orders, track PM completion, and report on environmental compliance activities.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in common work areas, maintaining clean, organized, and safe workspaces in accordance with facility standards.
  • Support safety initiatives by completing required employee safety training, participating in the Employee Safety Concern Process, and utilizing pre-task planning methods for all assigned work.
  • Operate forklifts and aerial lifts as needed to assist with material handling and maintenance activities, maintaining current operator licenses and attending all scheduled training sessions.
