Job Description: Utilities Power Distribution Department is seeking an experienced Maintenance Craft person. This role will assist skilled professionals perform operations of power distribution systems plus maintain and repair equipment associated. Will aid in operation and/or electrical/instrument maintenance and repair assignments. Responsible for providing safe reliable power services for Eastman Chemical, Utilities, Power Distribution Department, while operating and maintaining electrical distribution equipment associated to turbine powered generators, exciters, powerhouse switchgear, transformers/substations, breakers/starters, station batteries, relaying, cables and electrical manhole/vault systems. Voltages up to 138KV. Generated and transmitted power is 13.8kv and transformed down to 4.16KV, 2.4KV and 480V.   • Candidate must follow all safety procedures.
  • Must wear company-provided personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses with side shields, and hard hats always in designated areas.
  • Other specialized protective equipment must be worn when required.
  • Power Distribution works days but if required, must be willing to work a twelve (12) hour rotating shift schedule.
  • Overtime work is required from time to time.
  • Computer functions such as testing software, creating, sending, and receiving e-mail and data entry are required.
  • Have a strong work ethic, demonstrating both initiative and a professional attitude.
  • Must have clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to apply mechanical and electrical aptitude to properly maintain the performance of the equipment within area of responsibility.
  • Rate of pay is based upon experience.
  • Must be able to perform the essential elements of the positions with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be willing to clean shave when necessary.
  • Must be willing to work crew rotation on an emergency call list.
  • HS Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • WorkKeys assessment preferred at time of hire.
  • Must have achieved Eastman’s required score levels on the WorkKeys assessments within 12 months of hire date.
  • WorkKeys required score levels: Reading for Information / Workplace Documents - Level 6 Locating Information / Graphic Literacy - Level 5 Applied Mathematics - Level 6
  • Eastman Chemical, MME Apprentice Program will be required if employed.

Nice To Haves

  • Possessing a minimum two years' experience in electrical is preferred.
  • Possessing Medium Voltage (1kv-35kv), Power Distribution experience is preferred.
  • Possessing Protective Relay Testing experience is preferred.
  • Possessing CDL is preferred.
  • Possess Boom Truck Operating license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operations of power distribution system.
  • Maintain SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Perform equipment LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out).
  • Maintain LOTO check sheets.
  • Maintain a preventive/predictive maintenance program.
  • Test assets using specialty computer equipment and software.
  • Repair on power distribution system apparatus including transformers, breakers, generators, reactors, cables, switches, relays etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining electrical manholes.
  • Provide installation of power distribution equipment and pull medium voltage cable.
  • Issue work permits to groups performing work in manholes, on substations or gear, and in distribution buildings.
