About The Position

Maintenance/Grounds Staff Location: Start Date: June 1, 2026 Upper Freehold Regional School District 27 High Street Allentown, NJ 08501 TITLE: Maintenance/Grounds Staff - 12 Month Position Reports to: Director of Buildings and Grounds QUALIFICATIONS : Possess a particular trade skill with the ability to perform satisfactorily in other skills, i.e., HVAC,plumbing, mechanical,electrical repairs and pest contract. Black Seal Boiler License preferred. PRIMARY FUNCTION : Responsible for maintaining, repairing, and constructing District equipment and buildings as well as assisting in the maintenance of the grounds. Expectations below including but not limited to the following: JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintenance: Performs routine maintenance and repairs on district equipment/buildings to include HVAC, plumbing and electrical repairs. Performs electrical repairs to light ballasts, light switches, receptacles, fluorescent lamp lights, shorts in wiring and replacement of light bulbs. Must be able to work with hands/arms, above head for extended periods of time. Perform plumbing repairs on commodes, urinals, flush valves, faucets, washers, packing and drain lines. Must be able to work in tight quarters. Repairs, rebuilds and constructs district facilities as required. Responds to work order requests and emergencies promptly and efficiently. Uses tools and maintenance shop equipment and ladders safely and maintains them in safe operating condition. Maintains inventory of frequently used parts and materials for repair of buildings and equipment. Removes snow from parking lots, sidewalks and other areas; spreading salt; ensuring the district grounds are safe during inclement weather. Move furniture and/or equipment as required. Manage pest control issues. Assist custodial and security staff with special events set-up,clean-up and supervision. Substitute for custodial personnel as required. Groundskeeping Maintains and cares for all school grounds including planting, watering, pruning, mowing and weeding as needed Maintains and uses related equipment such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, snow blowers, tractors, trucks, power equipment, etc. Works during extreme weather conditions such as heavy snow and rain in order to have the grounds in safe condition for staff and students Work to prepare athletic and physical education fields and equipment for scheduled events Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Building and Grounds.
