About The Position

Maintain AISD grounds to a high standard of cleanliness in a condition of operating excellence at all times to include mowing, trimming, watering, picking up of trash and any other duties as assigned. Grounds Custodians are assigned to a high school campus.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license
  • Working knowledge of landscape maintenance and related equipment, such as: riding and walk-behind mowers, weed eaters, vehicles with trailers, etc.
  • Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision
  • Organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position
  • Capable of assessing safety conditions on site and able to take appropriate corrective action.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under little supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED
  • CDL license
  • Two years of lawn maintenance experience
  • One year experience in a leadership role in related field
  • Spray license

Responsibilities

  • Keep assigned campus grounds neat and clean, including, but not limited to: lawn, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots and play areas.
  • Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from campus.
  • Aid in maintaining a proper watering schedule.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  • Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Report maintenance of tools and equipment and make recommendations of needed supplies to supervisor.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
  • Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
