About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Maintenance Generalist, Lead for the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center (AMCC), located in Nome, Alaska. Watch Alaska DOC's video here: DOC Extended Cut.mp4 (vimeo.com) What You Will Be Doing: Maintain the facility, working from work orders from staff or from blueprints that include plumbing, heating, electrical, carpentry, refinishing and new construction/modifications. Performs duties according to uniform building code and maintaining the integrity of the facilities security procedures at all times. Repair and clean plugged sewer lines; inspect and repair water lines, domestic and heating. Repair sinks, toilets, showers, damaged walls, ceilings and floors. Inspect, clean, repair, maintain and install hot water and steam boilers or other related heating systems. The Working Environment You Can Expect: Located in Nome, Alaska, Anvil Mountain Correctional Center is a minimum/medium custody facility that houses up to 150 inmates, both male and female. This position will be working closely around inmates and other staff on a daily basis. Eye-Hand Coordination: Accurately coordinate one's eyes with one's fingers, wrists, or arms to perform job-related tasks (for example, to move, carry, or manipulate objects).

Requirements

  • Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Proof of licensure will be required prior to reporting to duty.
