About The Position

Assigns work orders and tasks to Maintenance Generalists and Trade Staff at HSC and Main Campus. Performs administrative services, inspections, and repairs in addition to routine skilled maintenance duties within trades such as electrical, carpentry, painting, locksmithing, HVAC/R, plumbing and the repair and maintenance of existing distribution systems, lighting, electrical components, portable and permanently installed electrical devices and servicing equipment. Ensures efficient work order coordination with staff, customers, and Work Management. Administrative duties, communicates with supervisors and UF Leadership via email and phone. Completes project inspections and submits receiving documents. Assigns and monitors AIM work orders, ensuring proper notes and asset information are included. Acquires vendor quotes and submits requisitions for various maintenance-related purchase orders (POs). Assists in conducting shop safety meetings and ensuring overall safety compliance. Guide, train and give assistance to employees engaged in daily building electrical and generator maintenance tasks and projects. Acts as the first responder for all off-shift maintenance calls for emergency and routine repairs (as allowed by existing codes) involving non-licensed carpentry, HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, elevator failures, security hardware, locks and life safety equipment failures. Performs corrective actions to emergency and routine calls and alarms or determines that a specialized tradesperson or service contractor is required to make necessary repairs. Performs scheduled maintenance tasks as required or as assigned. Coordinates the actions of personnel called to resolve emergency situations. Consult, coordinate and plan with other University Department and organizations to provide support for any building electrical deficiencies. Operates UF vehicles and Man-lifts Employee must obtain a State of Florida Class “E” Operator License within 60 days of date of employment. THIS POSITION REQUIRES A POST-OFFER HEALTH ASSESSMENT AND CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK. NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Saturday - Monday 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. 40 hours per week. Emergency work (as needed.) On-Call/Standby (as required). Position considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and four years of relevant experience.
  • Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Employee must obtain a State of Florida Class “E” Operator License within 60 days of date of employment.
  • THIS POSITION REQUIRES A POST-OFFER HEALTH ASSESSMENT AND CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK.
  • Must have experience in multiple trades.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Electrician, Master Electrician or have completed a certified program for Electrical Maintenance or Construction or hold a Craftsman’s certification having completed a formal training program such as a Journeyman’s and/or NCCER or a similar certification.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the skilled building trades and electrical repair work
  • Knowledge of safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work
  • Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work
  • Ability to perform a variety of skilled trade functions
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
