We currently have several exciting opportunities for Maintenance Fitters at our Chilled Manufacturing site in Colac. Reporting to the Maintenance Team Lead, you will play a key role in the maintenance, repair and installation of complex dairy manufacturing and packaging equipment. Opportunities available: 1 x Full Time Permanent 1 x 12 Month Secondment (Weekend – 24 hours on an overnight shift) Please note that a pre-employment medical, including a drug and alcohol screen, will be required as part of the recruitment process.

Requirements

  • Hold a general Engineering Class1 C10 Trades Certificate in Fitting and Machining, or any other trades certificate to the same level.
  • Hold the relevant post trades certificate/s, or correct number of modules that relate to C8 post trades classification or be able to demonstrate capabilities to C8 level.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Have an understanding of the quality assurance principles, hygiene and cleanliness standards required when performing work in a food manufacturing environment
  • Reliable & hard-working
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as build effective working relationships

Nice To Haves

  • Our ideal candidate will have gained their experience within a food-manufacturing environment with experience in a dairy/food production facility which is preferred however not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, modify, commission and maintain complex machinery and equipment which utilises hydraulic and / or pneumatic principles
  • Carry out all general types of welding, Oxy, Arc and TIG as needed for maintenance and running repairs
  • Examine, diagnose, modify and repair systems used to operate electro/ mechanical, electro/hydraulics, electro/pneumatic packaging and production plant
  • Perform general machining operations, i.e. Lathe Drilling & Milling work, required for maintenance duties
  • Carry out all general engineering maintenance functions including, removing and installing electric motor and gearbox bearings; maintain and repair mechanical transmission assemblies, and pumps; general factory pipe work, installations and fabrications; lubrication of production equipment as well as running adjustments to production machinery.
  • Read and understand hydraulic and pneumatic circuitry, which control fluid power systems
