About The Position

Atlas Roofing Shingles, Underlayments and Ventilation is seeking an Engineering Manager for Franklin, OH. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for procurement of manufacturing equipment, updating manufacturing routines, maintaining compliance with HSE regulations, managing the engineering budget, and overseeing the plant's central maintenance. The role also involves monitoring capacity utilization, coordinating with external companies, and supporting problem-solving initiatives. The Engineering Manager will facilitate the Continuous Improvement Program and evaluate departmental performance while adhering to company policies and goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is desired
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of Total Quality Management (TQM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and its practical implementation
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) is preferred (ControlLogix/ RS logic)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Basic detail and conceptual design skills
  • Experience with project management and implementation from the initial planning stages to completion
  • Lean- six sigma skills and experience preferred
  • Advanced analytical skills, and creativity in solving problems/trouble shooting
  • Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple short and long-term projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation), with the ability to effectively work with others in a team environment
  • Demonstrated initiative and the ability to handle complex assignments with a proactive attitude
  • Strong Attention to detail and accuracy

Responsibilities

  • Procurement of manufacturing equipment under consideration of demanded security, quality and environmental protection and their preservation equipment and tooling follow-up
  • Update manufacturing routines and work instructions
  • Keep processes (machines, tools, procedures) at best possible level in compliance with HSE regulations and QCD
  • Build the engineering budget and the plant CAPEX; and ensure their application
  • Management of the plant central maintenance
  • Monitor capacity utilization
  • Keep plant lay-out updated
  • Plan, monitor and coordinate the work of external companies
  • Create and introduce procedures regarding the tasks of his field of responsibility
  • Support problem solving initiatives
  • Support the engineering change management process
  • Facilitate and monitor the progress of the Continuous Improvement Program
  • Monitors departmental budget to assure goals are maintained and implemented as defined
  • Establish and monitor the metrics for reporting on the performance of the engineering department
  • Periodically evaluate subordinates’ performance according to company policy
  • Adhere to and remain abreast of all company policies
  • Commit to team and corporate goals, mission, and vision
  • Visit customers and suppliers as necessary. Acts as a liaison to internal and external customers and suppliers
