ROLE OVERVIEW: The position works cross-functionally with senior management to help implement the necessary infrastructure to ensure a safe and productive environment, under the general supervision of the Plant manager, supporting WL Maintenance team, and ensuring that industrial machinery and equipment run smoothly and reliably. Plans, designs, implements, and optimizes mechanical and manufacturing systems to improve plant performance, equipment reliability, and operational efficiency. Applies engineering principles to develop and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and drive continuous improvement across production operations, supporting WL and all Fiber Plants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, with a preferred Master's in Mechanical Engineering, with a minimum of 2 years' experience.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Possesses a technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical/electronic, instrumentation, and computer systems.
  • Possesses experience assembling and disassembling equipment.
  • Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Demonstrates excellent project management and planning skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with others as part of a team.
  • Displays excellent leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safety consciousness, committed to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Lead design, automation, and optimization initiatives for mechanical and manufacturing systems to increase throughput, quality, and reliability.
  • Manage Maintenance and engineering projects focused on process automation, system reliability, and operational excellence, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and sustainability standards.
  • Develop and implement data-driven preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies using reliability engineering methodologies such as RCA, FMEA, and MTBF/MTTR modeling to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
  • Direct root-cause analyses and engineering evaluations to identify system bottlenecks, drive design modifications, and achieve measurable efficiency and cost-reduction goals
  • Utilize CAD, simulation, and analytical software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MATLAB, or equivalent) to model and validate mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes and modifications to existing tooling, equipment and manufacturing processes to ensure optimal efficiency, safety and longevity.
  • Works closely with teams to develop PM's & AM
  • Create maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Develop training for maintenance techs to increase skill set.
  • Establish equipment health conditions.
  • Identify problems and implement solutions, executing and documenting corrective action.
  • Collaborate with production teams, to develop and execute maintenance plans.
  • All other duties as assigned
