About The Position

Fox TV Stations FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content. JOB DESCRIPTION Are you a technical problem-solver who thrives in the high-stakes environment of live television? Our station is looking for a Broadcast Engineer to join our team in one of the nation’s largest media markets. From the studio to the transmitter site, you will ensure our linear and streaming content reaches millions of viewers with flawless execution. Essential Duties As a key member of our engineering team, you will bridge the gap between traditional RF broadcasting and modern IP-based workflows. Innovate & Collaborate: Work with engineering management to design, implement, and document cutting-edge workflows and systems. Mission-Critical Support: Respond to on-air technical issues in a live 24/7 environment with the urgency and precision required for a top-tier news operation. System Maintenance: Install and maintain studio and transmitter facility equipment, including electrical, cooling, encoders, and RF transmission systems. Operational Excellence: Perform duties in Master Control and the TOC, ensuring signal flow remains uninterrupted across all platforms. Empower Others: Train operators and develop easy-to-use support documentation for production personnel.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years in broadcast system and equipment maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of IP-based broadcast systems, signal flow, and video/audio formats.
  • Working knowledge of RF equipment, exciters, antennas, and facility infrastructure (HVAC/Electrical).
  • Experience with automation, robotics, routers, and news video playback systems.
  • Knowledge of computer networking, hardware maintenance, and virtual computing.
  • A desire to learn new technologies and a willingness to work a flexible schedule (nights, weekends, and holidays).
  • Must be a licensed driver in good standing.
  • Ability to travel to remote broadcast/transmitter sites as needed.
  • Solid understanding of FCC rules and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with NRCS and NLE platforms is a major plus.
  • Four-year technical degree in electronics or equivalent military/training experience.
  • Industry certifications: SBE, Cisco, Microsoft, or CompTIA a plus
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software desired.
