About The Position

Engineer Courtyard Marriott Position Summary The Engineer at Courtyard Marriott is responsible for delivering prompt and effective maintenance services to ensure guest satisfaction and the smooth operation of hotel facilities. This role involves responding to guest repair requests, resolving maintenance issues, and performing preventive maintenance on tools and equipment in both kitchen and mechanical room areas. The Engineer also supports daily operations by visually inspecting tools and machines, carrying necessary equipment, and managing maintenance inventory, including requisitioning parts and supplies as required.

Requirements

  • Certifications in maintenance preferred
  • Previous hotel experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly to guest repair and maintenance requests, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and professionally.
  • Communicate effectively with guests and team members to address and resolve maintenance concerns.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room machinery.
  • Visually inspect tools, equipment, and machines to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Carry equipment such as tools and radios while performing duties throughout the property.
  • Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and utilities within the building.
  • Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition necessary parts and supplies.
  • Document and communicate daily activities and any issues to other shifts using approved communication protocols.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge across multiple categories, such as air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and general building maintenance.
  • Prepare surfaces, paint, repair minor drywall and wood trim, and replace light bulbs and A/C filters, ensuring complete and thorough cleanup of work areas.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and perform basic repairs on equipment, plumbing, electrical components, and guestroom items (e.g., lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches, and outlets).
  • Program televisions and support general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties.
  • Apply Lockout/Tagout procedures before conducting maintenance work to ensure safety.
  • Perform repairs on both interior and exterior landscaping, including maintenance of landscaping sprinklers.
  • Utilize basic computer skills, such as inputting air handler schedules and adjusting building temperature settings.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries promptly.
  • Complete required safety training and certifications.
  • Store flammable materials properly and maintain clean, professional personal appearance and uniform.
  • Protect confidentiality of proprietary information and safeguard company assets.
  • Welcome and acknowledge all guests in accordance with company standards.
  • Anticipate and address guests' service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and show genuine appreciation.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and support team efforts.
  • Listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of team members.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with others.
  • Move, lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance; heavier lifting or movement tasks may require assistance.
  • Navigate stairs, service ramps, and ladders as required.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Enter and locate work-related information using computers.
  • Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by management to support hotel operations and guest satisfaction.
