The Role As the company continues to grow, we are seeking an Maintenance Electronics Technician III to work in our manufacturing facility. The technician will troubleshoot, repair, and set up moderately complex manufacturing equipment per applicable documentation. This position supports manufacturing in the timely repair of equipment and machinery to ensure line uptime and productivity. The technician will address production maintenance demands timely to meet production schedules. Performs root-cause analysis, communicates recommendations, and implements solutions that prevent reoccurrence. Provides enhanced support to facilities maintenance and calibration. Participates in the transfer of new production lines. Provides input and technical support to new projects. This position is in Rochester, NY. Schedule: A shift and off shift coverage as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship or technical certification in maintenance.
  • Associate degree in industrial maintenance, engineering technology, electronics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems, including basic circuit troubleshooting and component replacement.
  • Proficiency in fundamental electronic repair techniques, including soldering and resoldering of electronic components.
  • Use of hand tools and precision instruments for circuit board and wiring repair, and performing continuity, voltage, and resistance tests using digital multimeters.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to diagnose and repair control system faults.
  • Basic understanding of electronic safety practices, including proper handling of static-sensitive components and lockout/tagout procedures for energized systems.

  • Experience using diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, and communication interface software for PLCs or controllers.
  • Knowledge of component-level repair techniques, including identification and testing of resistors, capacitors, transistors, and integrated circuits.
  • Participation in intermediate root cause analysis and problem-solving using methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, and FMEA.
  • Familiarity with calibration procedures for electronic instruments and sensors to maintain accuracy and compliance with operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform a wide range of maintenance tasks, including non-routine or complex assignments.
  • Apply advanced electronic troubleshooting techniques to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions at both the system and component levels.
  • Apply hands-on electronic maintenance skills, including soldering and resoldering components.
  • Repairing printed circuit boards (PCBs), replacing and calibrating sensors and transducers, and verifying circuit continuity and signal integrity using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic instruments.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electronic control systems, variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLCs, instrumentation, and automated equipment to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, equipment history, and electronic component replacements within the maintenance management system.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to upgrade or modernize electronic control systems.
  • Conduct intermediate root cause analysis on recurring electrical or electronic failures and contribute to long-term corrective and preventive action plans.
