The Maintenance Electrical Specialist's primary function is to support manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering by repair, modification, troubleshooting, testing, and/or design of manufacturing production equipment through the application of electrical engineering principles and theory. The Maintenance Electrical Specialist's serves as the key resource in-house expert on all existing and future electrical systems at Nisshinbo.

  • Support and collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and or develop strategies to enhance electrical controls systems that improve Safety, Productivity, or Cost.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical control equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect electrical designs and installations for quality control and compliance with safety standards.
  • Install and service circuit breakers, fuse boxes, relays, VFDs, motion controls, servos, linear actuators, and electrical disconnect switches.
  • Interpret wiring system diagrams to aid in troubleshooting and system enhancements.
  • Build and assemble terminal boards, and other components of electrical control systems.
  • Set up and test new electrical equipment, ensuring it meets operational requirements.
  • Program, test, and maintain electrical control systems, including PLCs and SCADA systems.
  • Service and maintain electric motors, drives, and relays on AC or DC systems.
  • Read schematics, printouts, and specification lists to determine system functionality.
  • Work independently to perform electrical diagnostics and provide maintenance and troubleshooting support.
  • Contributes to the Team Effort by being flexible in work assignments; by covering for other Staff as needed; and by accomplishing related tasks when requested.
  • Maintains Professional and Technical Knowledge by attaining job-related certification; by keeping up on industry trends; and by applying that knowledge to the job.

  • Associate degree in Industrial Instrumentation, Electronics, or Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three to five years related experience in manufacturing environment in electrical maintenance or engineering capacity.
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Controls Technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and automation.
  • PLC programming, troubleshooting, and design – (Allen Bradley PLC5, SLC5, Omron CS, Siemens)
  • Knowledge of HMI Systems (Omron NT631, Panel View)
  • Knowledge of Motion Control Technology (VFDs, Servo Drives, Encoders, Linear Electric Actuators)
  • Capable of working in and developing control panel design (wiring, SSRs, breakers, GFCI, PLCs, VFDs, transformers, power supplies)
  • Work with robotics to troubleshoot or adjust parameters for setup (Fanuc)
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Ability to calculate capacity and load requirements - circuit design.
  • Hands-on modification and troubleshooting of production equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, forms and instructions.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence in English.
  • Ability to effectively respond to questions, communicate verbally, and in writing in English.
  • Ability to calculate electrical engineering formulas and equations as well as those related to IT or computer science.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and sense of understanding to carry-out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Strong attention to details, organized, resourceful and professional. Confidentiality a must.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to analyze and use various documents (engineering drawings, manuals, contracts, purchase orders, etc.).
  • Ability to use computer and applications such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and be able to design custom reports as necessary. Able to work with various programming languages, work with HMIs, Virtual Machines, and ladder logic.
  • Must be tactful, mature, flexible and able to successfully respond to multiple work pressures. Must be exceedingly efficient with ability to work in a fast pace, high volume work environment.
