About The Position

The Role: The Die Group Leader will be responsible for leading a team in the maintenance, repair, and optimization of dies and related mechanical equipment within a manufacturing environment. This role requires a strong understanding of blueprints, machine schematics, and various machining processes to ensure efficient and high-quality production. What You'll Do (Responsibilities): Lead and supervise a team of die technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Interpret complex blueprints and machine schematics to diagnose and troubleshoot die malfunctions and mechanical equipment issues. Oversee and actively participate in the repair, maintenance, and modification of dies, fixtures, and other mechanical equipment. Apply expertise in various machining processes (e.g., milling, grinding, turning) to repair and fabricate die components. Ensure all repair and maintenance activities are performed safely and in accordance with company standards and procedures. Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives for die performance and longevity. Manage work orders, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources effectively to meet production schedules. Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inventory of die components. Conduct regular inspections of dies and mechanical equipment to anticipate and prevent potential failures.

Requirements

  • One year of direct team supervisory experience or at least 5 months as an internal GM per diem group leader
  • Experience reading and understanding electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints
  • Experience solving complex problems and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experience managing conflict and decision making
  • Experience managing, leading people, and addressing performance concerns
  • Demonstrate a high analytical ability to solve complex problems
  • Basic computer proficiency (i.e., Microsoft Word, typing, email, etc.)
  • Must be willing to work weekends and rotating shifts
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Tool & Die experience
  • Stamping experience
  • Knowledge of die alignment, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
  • Experience with robotic automation or CNC machinery.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
  • Prior work in automotive tier-1 or OEM stamping facilities.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Willingness to ask questions, take initiative and be resourceful
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, self-directed
  • Experience collaborating across multiple functions within a manufacturing setting
