About The Position

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning foodservice, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA. We are seeking a Maintenance Cooker Mechanic to be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting Cookers, and repairing mechanical equipment, including pressure vessel cookers, conveyor systems, motors, and pneumatic tools. This role ensures that all machinery operates efficiently and safely in compliance with company and regulatory standards at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, preferred; technical certification preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in mechanical maintenance and occasionally climb, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and schematics, and understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and mathematical applications in mechanical work.
  • Proficiency in order processing systems and maintenance software.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended schedule, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early November.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and diagnose mechanical devices to identify issues and dismantle and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Examine parts for imperfections and wear.
  • Adjust functional components and control instruments.
  • Install special functional and structural parts in machinery.
  • Lubricate, clean, and maintain equipment for optimal performance.
