About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. The Maintenance/Construction Technician III (Maintenance Supervisor) is responsible for training and supervising offenders in the maintenance and repair of commercial printing equipment and building maintenance. This includes mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. This position will also inspect and maintain all safety equipment such as: fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, fire hoses, and smoke detectors. Additionally, they will complete and manage safety reports. The maintenance mechanic must also have knowledge of carpentry skills, welding, machine shop skills, and grounds keeping. This position will supervise the plant preventative maintenance programs. All these skills are needed to keep a large volume printing facility producing efficiently. Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
