About The Position

Queen City Airport (XLL) provides services to non- commercial, private and corporate aircraft exclusively. This position provides general “handy-man” duties for the Queen City Airport as part of the Lehigh Valley Aviation Services (LVAS) team. Essential Functions Operate machinery and equipment in and around properties owned by the Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA). Inspect, service, troubleshoot, diagnose and perform preventive maintenance on gas engine or battery-operated power equipment, including aircraft fueling trucks, aircraft tugs, snow removal equipment and other LNAA-owned vehicles, to ensure serviceability and safe/optimal performance. Perform basic maintenance, troubleshoot and/or repair maintenance equipment (i.e., tractors, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, air compressors, etc.) to ensure the same. Inspect, service and maintain airport fuel tanks and other facilities/structures (such as aircraft hangars, perimeter fencing/gates and airport offices, as needed) to ensure optimal condition; record/document inspections and maintenance of the same. Have the physical ability and awareness to safely navigate in and around equipment and aircraft. Professionally communicate over two-way radio, telephone, and email. Possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must receive CDL Class “B” driver’s license within twelve (12) months of hire. Additional Responsibilities Perform grass cutting and snow removal and related duties. Perform any/all duties of Maintenance “C” and Custodian, as needed. Work both independently and as a leader of other maintenance personnel in completing assigned tasks. Complete all tasks assigned through LNAA’s maintenance work order system. Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to performing basic maintenance.
  • Availability nights, weekends and as needed for emergency and after-hours calls for assistance.
  • Able to expertly operate hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment, including heavy snow removal equipment.
  • PC skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and other applicable computer programs.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to respond and perform in emergency situations and severe weather conditions.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must wear uniforms provided (uniforms must be clean and presentable) and personal protective equipment.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license that meets insurance requirements
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays when required.
  • Successfully pass continual training, security and employment requirements
  • Must possess acceptable English language skills to include speaking, reading, writing and comprehension.
  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance; stoop, kneel and crouch or crawl.
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to type, handle bags, boxes, objects or controls.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds repeatedly and occasionally lift up to 99 pounds with assistance.
  • Vision abilities include, with or without corrective lenses, close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Sufficient auditory ability, with or without audiological devices, to decipher telephone/radio communications, interact with the public and others, and hear alarms, including vehicle and other warning signals.
  • Able to tolerate exposure to noise levels up to 150 decibels at times, hearing protection is provided and optional.
  • Able to tolerate exposure to air fuels, exhaust, and de-icing chemicals.
  • Able and willing to work in inclement weather, including extreme cold and warm temperatures.
