About The Position

This person will perform skilled and semi-skilled grounds maintenance related to County Park operations and County support services providing a clean and safe environment for park visitors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be 18 years of age due to operation of motorized equipment
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
  • Must have and maintain a valid PA Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record in accordance with County policy and submit to driving record background check
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist height, 30 pounds to shoulder height, and 25 pounds above the head
  • Must be able to traverse uneven terrain for long distances
  • Ability to perform strenuous tasks over extended periods of time
  • Ability to stoop, bend from the waist and reach overhead frequently, and for extended periods of time
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time while operating equipment
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • This position requires wearing a supplied t-shirt with an FM logo during working hours
  • This position requires wearing long pants; shorts are NOT permitted
  • This position requires the use of closed toe and closed back shoes that support the ankle
  • Ability to follow oral and written instruction
  • Ability to work well with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work well alone or with others

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating medium to heavy equipment (i.e. large farm tractor, flail mower or large multi-deck rotary mower preferred
  • Experience working outdoors preferred
  • Experience using basic hand tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Mow grass in Central and Buchmiller Park on a cyclical basis using specialized equipment (i.e. Large 4WD tractor with 15' rotary deck, large area mower with three hydraulically controlled rotary decks
  • Service, clean and provide daily maintenance of mower (i.e. check or change oil, grease, sharpen blades, etc.)
  • Provide daily feedback on field and equipment conditions
  • Check daily facility schedule and prevent conflicts between rentals, programs and mowing
  • Ability to follow County and Departmental Policies and Procedures
  • Assist with facility needs as directed
  • Other duties as assigned
