About The Position

As the Maintenance Assistant and Bus driver, you will carry a variety of duties to ensure a clean and safe environment is maintained for residents, team members and visitors. This role assists the Maintenance Director in the areas of repairs and services to the residents of the community, and is responsible for driving the community bus/ van to and from off campus activities, ensuring the safety of all residents while complying with federal and state laws and regulations as well as Company's policies and procedures. Requirements

  • High school diploma or work equivalency required
  • Ability to read, write, speak & understand the English language
  • Demonstrates a proficiency and understanding of systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and code compliance
  • Experience in maintaining water source heat pumps
  • Possess an understanding of OSHA and life safety regulations
  • Valid Driver's License - must be able to show proof
  • DOT Medical Certificate required (company will provide)
  • Ability to make decisions and act in the resident's best interest

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred and desire to serve and care for seniors
  • Boiler License preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in areas as assigned by the Maintenance Director or perform the responsibilities independently when the Maintenance Director is not present in the community
  • Demonstrates a high level of safety in all work practices
  • Responds to all building emergencies
  • Maintains common areas free of scuff marks around door, jams, baseboards, walls
  • Maintains the grounds by collecting trash, sweeping the dumpster areas and cleaning first impression areas
  • Executes all assigned work orders timely and effectively
  • Performs safety checks on the community van each time before operation.
  • Drives the community van in a safe manner following traffic regulations.
  • Assists residents in getting on and off the bus by ensuring all safety equipment is used correctly
  • Ensures resident information binder up to date and on the bus
  • Maintains the timeliness of assignments and handling of workload.
  • Regulates heating and cooling for passenger comfort.
  • Follows policy guidelines should an accident occur.
  • Contacts back-up drivers, as needed, to ensure a driver is available for all trips scheduled.
  • Takes the community van for repairs and maintenance as needed; picks up and returns to appropriate parking location.
