About The Position

The Maintenance Apprenticeship Technician role and program offers both on-the-job training and a formal education based in a classroom setting. During your education, you will focus on many specialties that will include: Power Transmission Electrical Welding CAD (computer-aided design) Hydraulics Pneumatics Robotics During the apprenticeship, you are a full-time, paid employee who will complete a development program with the support of our coaching technicians and supervisors. Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship Program, you will receive: Industrial Maintenance Technician C.A. Course credits that are transferable towards an Associates and Bachelor's degree and in many cases entering as a Junior The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Apprenticeship Technician is industrial troubleshooting (electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic) as well as installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required.
  • Must pass applicable college placement exams for program admittance
  • Willingness to develop skill set and product knowledge through classroom, hands-on, and virtual training.
  • Capable of troubleshooting, repairing and overhauling of plant equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good planning and priority setting skills.
  • Able to lead problem solving and troubleshooting efforts associated with high-level process issues.
  • Desire and attitude to excel.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

  • Working knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics.
  • Working knowledge of pneumatics.
  • Theoretical understanding of use and application of programmable controllers.
  • Understanding and experience with electronic principles.
  • Strong mechanical background including transmission theory.
  • Basic working knowledge of personal computers.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of experience in manufacturing maintenance or education equivalent
  • Working knowledge of electronic, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic concepts
  • Knowledge of relay and programmable logic controllers including PLC troubleshooting, programming and printed circuit boards.
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, diagrams, engineering specifications and operating instructions
  • Experience with machine repair and automation equipment repair
  • Experience performing machine maintenance and machine troubleshooting
  • Must possess meter and primary tools to perform the job effectively.
  • Be able to read, understand, and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Learns the operation, repair and maintenance of plant equipment under the immediate supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assists in scheduling maintenance and works closely with Production to schedule and accomplish equipment and facility repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance by inspecting electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Assemble, install, test, move, and maintain machinery.
  • Willing to assist with and solve facility issues as needed
  • Ability to maneuver and adjust robot programming on primarily Motoman, and Fanuc robots in a robot welding and material handling setting
