About The Position

The Maintenance Apprentice is an entry-level, multi-craft role designed for individuals seeking to develop technical skills in an industrial manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the apprentice assists journey-level technicians in installing, maintaining, and repairing production equipment while typically being enrolled in a related post-secondary or technical program.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED.
Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary educational institute or technical school during the apprenticeship period.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively in English
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
Able to apply concepts of high school math.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
Required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Responsibilities

Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on pumps, motors, hydraulic systems, conveyors, steam systems, and other facility equipment.
Equipment Repair: Assist in the installation and repair of machines; learn to troubleshoot programmable controllers (PLCs) and A/C and D/C drives.
Technical Interpretation: Read and apply blueprints, schematics, and operating manuals to perform repairs.
Facility Support: Assist with plant inspections to identify mechanical issues and perform basic maintenance in plumbing, carpentry, welding, and electrical trades.
Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe and clean work environment (5S/Housekeeping); strictly adhere to company safety policies and wear required PPE.
Documentation: Accurately complete work orders and daily maintenance paperwork via maintenance software systems.
Availability: Must be willing to work flexible hours, including 2nd or 3rd shifts and weekends as needed.
Skills: Willingness to learn multi-craft trades (Mechanical, Electrical, and Electronics).
