About The Position

This exempt position reports to the Director of Facilities & Operations Primary Purpose: The Maintenance and Operations Supervisor directly supervises maintenance staff and oversees the upkeep and maintenance of 20 buildings totaling 1.7 million square feet, directly impacting the learning environment for approximately 8,600 students in a Texas public school district. Reporting directly to the Director of Facilities and Operations, this role manages the district's MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and general maintenance operations, ensuring high-quality, timely repairs, preventive maintenance, and in-house project execution. The supervisor leads daily operations, develops short- and long-term maintenance plans, manages multiple projects, handles emergencies professionally, and coordinates with building representatives and vendors for specialized work.

Requirements

  • Ability to handle personnel situations.
  • Working Knowledge of project planning and principles of construction, school plant maintenance, grounds and custodial operations
  • Working Knowledge of energy management program's
  • Working Knowledge of mechanical and electrical design and installation Working Knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • Working Knowledge of building codes, zoning ordinances, and the inspection certification process Ability to communicate in written and verbal form
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics Ability to coordinate district functions Ability to conduct on-site inspections
  • Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Minimum three years maintenance or operations experience Minimum three years of experience in supervisory roles
  • Knowledge of applicable software applications for work orders and project management Customer service experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Master's License preferred in one or more of the following - electrical, HVAC, plumbing. Experience in Plant Operations
