About The Position

The Facilities & Equipment Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of all critical manufacturing infrastructure within a composite aerospace manufacturing environment. This role serves as the technical backbone of the facility maintenance, combining hands-on troubleshooting, preventative maintenance leadership, and system improvement to keep the plant operating at peak performance. While the position collaborates closely with manufacturing and design engineering, its core focus is maintenance excellence, facility systems, and utilities, ensuring that building, equipment, and infrastructure consistently support production, quality, and growth. The Facilities Engineer takes pride in craftsmanship, precision in execution, and ownership of equipment and facility performance. Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial, manufacturing or aerospace environment with strong emphasis on equipment maintenance, utilities, or infrastructure systems.
  • OR a combination of technical education and hands-on experience.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical systems including pumps, gearboxes, compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, controls wiring, and instrumentation (digital and analog).
  • Fabrication skills, including welding on steel/aluminum (TIG/MIG/Arc), assembly of custom equipment, and familiarity with machine building or tooling.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage preventative maintenance programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to document work, generate reports and track maintenance data.
  • Effective English communication skills (oral and written). Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to work primarily day shift, with occasional off-shift or weekend overtime as required to support production or critical repairs.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull or carry objects up to 75 lbs; ability to stand, walk, stoop, twist, climb, kneel, reach, grasp, finger, handle repetitive motions, as required in a manufacturing facility.

Nice To Haves

  • PLC knowledge or controls experience preferred (training will be provided as needed).
  • A limited electrical license (for facilities maintenance) is preferred.
  • Prior experience in an aerospace/composites manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Prior supervisory or team-lead experience is a plus (but not required).
  • Experience with manual machining equipment (mill, lathe, drill press) preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing metrics, continuous improvement, root-cause analysis or lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical authority for equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems supporting production.
  • HVAC systems, freezers, vacuum systems, fluid pumps, and utilities.
  • Lead diagnostics root cause analysis for equipment and facility failures; implement permanent corrective actions, not short-term fixes.
  • Develop, own, and continuously improve preventative and predictive maintenance programs for facility systems and critical equipment, including schedules, documentation, metrics, and compliance tracking.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and technically guide external contractors and service providers, ensuring work meets engineering standards, safety expectations, and schedule commitments.
  • Support facility upgrades, expansions, and infrastructure projects including utilities, foundations, machinery placement, lighting, HVAC modifications, and space optimization.
  • Fabricate, modify, or repair equipment and fixtures using welding (TIG/MIG/Arc), machining rigging, and mechanical assembly as needed.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to maintenance technicians and apprentices; serve in a limited supervisory or lead capacity when required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and engineering documentation using standard reporting tools.
