About The Position

Effective Immediately General Qualifications Associate Degree or High School Diploma with minimum of five years of commercial/industrial maintenance Possesses the knowledge of basic custodial and maintenance skills Possesses the ability to communicate effectively Possesses the ability to read simple instructions and to understand written requests from principals and teachers Is physically fit Possesses the ability to work with others Must hold and maintain a valid license to drive in Illinois Essential Job Responsibilities Expected to have a working knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC Includes sewage, air and heating equipment as well as boiler controls, pumps, pneumatic controls, and other related equipment. Also, included is the chemical treatment and testing of all boilers in the District and filter changes and cleaning of all HVAC equipment Must have knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) Must have knowledge of carpentry and mechanical skills of locks, bearings, guttering, downspout, roof repairs, and laying brick and block setting and building forms Electric skills in low and high AC and DC voltage Expected to help with snow removal when needed Makes estimate of material, time and cost for specific jobs Accepts any and all other duties as assigned by the Director of Building and Grounds Has the mechanical ability to work with all maintenance personnel in completing tasks Has the ability to perform tasks using all types of hand tools used in building maintenance Maintains inventory of necessary and often used parts to maintain equipment with minimum down time Keeps track of and maintains District tools and equipment in good working condition Keeps assigned service vehicle clean, neat, orderly, and maintains schedule to have routine maintenance and service performed on vehicle under the direction of the Director of Buildings and Grounds or his/her designee Expected to mow, trim shrubs, trees, and landscape as needed on any school property Assist District maintenance as assigned Substitute for custodial personnel in emergency situations Ability to respond to after hour emergency calls if needed All other duties as assigned May be expected to change working hours as determined by Director of Buildings and Grounds for special projects
