We are currently seeking MAINFRAME DEVELOPER for an assignment in Lincoln NE a multi-year project. Job Description: We are seeking experienced MAINFRAME Developers with a strong background in legacy mainframe systems and tools. The ideal candidate(s) will have extensive expertise in COBOL, DB2, Web Services, JCL and batch processing on the mainframe and documentation skills. Experience with CICS is not a must, but would be an advantage. Basic qualifications for consideration: An associate’s degree in computer Programming or related discipline is required, but a Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related discipline is preferred. Minimum 8 to 15 years of relevant experience in application development. Preferred qualifications for consideration:

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 to 15 years of relevant experience in application development.
  • Extensive expertise in COBOL, DB2, Web Services, JCL and batch processing on the mainframe and documentation skills.
  • Strong COBOL development and coding skills.
  • Experience with mainframe development languages such as Cobol.
  • Experienced with source management tools including GIT or similar tools.
  • Knowledgeable in industry standard software design patterns, development, data modelling, and SOLID principals.
  • Knowledgeable in test driven development (TDD) and automated functional testing including tools like UFT, Postman, and Selenium.
  • Ability to resolve architectural problems including scalability, performance, reliability, usability & security.
  • A strong knowledge of the relationship between software and hardware interaction.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction or as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on work on highly complex projects within tight timelines
  • The ability to clearly communicate complex technical specifications, and a motivation to achieve best-in-class results.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CICS
  • Experience with iSeries, Unisys, and/or other mainframe technologies.
  • Experience with C programming
  • Agile and/or DevOps experience.
  • Financial industry interest and experience is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and document CICS and Batch programs
  • Collaborate with application owners / SMEs on application documentation and functional verification.
